Tall Glass 03:46
4am, load the boards into the van Set course for, the coast just south of the bend ‘cause we’ll never, see surf like this again Southeast swell, glass lines a mile long We’ll ride them, while in our heads we’ll sing this song ‘cause we’ll never, see surf this high again Time won’t wait for me Time won’t wait for me They’ll flip you over, as you head out into them Just past the break now, you’ll turn your board to drop-in They’ll pick you up and throw you down their face then this ride will begin Time won’t wait for me My board cuts a line across the sea Right here off the coast of Belize This surf won’t wait for me

On and on and on and on and On and on and on and on and On and on and on and on and On and on and on White suit black leather This time has come again Fire up her engine Eight firin’ pistons California mountains So fast that scenes will blend I almost find the bottom But I’ll live through this again On and on and on and on and On and on and on and on and On and on and on and on and On and on and on Black paint, metal, glass and chrome It’s an ungraceful blend Wheels that swerve right slidin’ These brakes they cannot mend My angry feelins, someone now must pay I race deep past this night, and outrun my aliens As I sail over , I sail over the canyon I think to myself, think to myself “what have you done?” It came loose, came loose this time It came loose, came loose this time The rubber let go of the road The rubber let go of the road As I sail away, sail away to these aliens As I float up, float up into these heavens It came loose, came loose this time It came loose, came loose this time The road has let us go The road has let us go

Swell 04:24
I’ve got green on both sides of my mind, as I ride down this river And all I can do is write this song for you in my mind, all day While the sturgeon are jumpin’ right here, near the plume of the spring I realize I’ve had it figured out all of this time I fall in it again Down to no apparent end And I need it to go away I fall in it again Down to no apparent end And I need it to go, away I stand down on the bank with my back, to all of my problems As I stare and look for the answer right there in the green of the trees Ice-cold and clear-blue they blow, right past my face I realize I’ve had it figured out all of this time I fall in it again Down to no apparent end And I need it to go away I fall in it again Down to no apparent end And I need it to go, away

Ambivalent 04:39
Fell from a tree cast out from the garden of love... Today's no different - than the day before Perched right here on life's - plateau It seems I've seen this scene somewhere before Don't waste...your time...living... Someone else's life Don't waste...your time...living... Someone else's...life Wake each day somewhat ambivalent Life is good, but there's more than this What matters most is what's most important to you I could use some help right now 'cause I don't have a clue Make up your mind...Ambivalence is not a crime but you'll still...do time- a prisoner inside your own mind Sky cracks light renewing hope for the day You can't wish things were different- doesn't work that way The time is now - to do what's right You've clipped my wings- but I'll still fly Make up your mind...Ambivalence is not a crime but you'll still, do time...a prisoner inside your own mind Don't waste...your time...living... Someone else's life Don't waste...your time...living... Someone else's...life

I know your song starts out in a b flat the house where you live is in the side of a hill and we all like that I notice your boat hasn't left the dock in over 8 days you've got us worried that you might be drinking too much and I don't know why, you are so sad because the fishin’ it ain't all that bad I guess I know why, why you are broke because you think that life is a joke when you returned from the war no one saw you for over a month suppose you saw some things over there that we just would not believe but then your time away seemed to help you get your head straight now you're missin’ again and I fear it may be too late Life as a joke Life as a joke Life as a joke Life is a joke

about

Florida is a screwed-up place. Not quite the South proper. Not quite cosmopolitan. Not quite the next punk-rock Mecca. But despite the sprawl and the identity crisis and the News of the Weird headlines, there is beauty here, and the six-song debut EP from Fowler’s Bluff is both a reflection upon and a celebration of the Sunshine State’s organic contrarianism.

Recorded in six different locations with a host of producers and engineers, Fowler’s Bluff reflects the schizoid nature of Florida culture as well as the disparate interests and influences of its creators. From rhythmic edge-of-jazz post-hardcore to swampy, melodic southern stomp, this is the sound of all of Florida’s myriad scenes and aesthetics, filtered through the perspectives of four musicians who care less about labels than they do about expressing themselves.
